The colours represent the following traffic flow levels:
1 - free flow, traffic of single vehicles
2 - free flow, small groups of vehicles
3 - near free flow, speeds slightly decreased
4 - unstable flow, speed significantly decreased
5 - breakdown flow, vehicles standing or moving slowly
Traffic level (or the 'Level of Service') is calculated as a ratio between the amount of vehicles detected on the street segment per hour and the hour capacity of the segment. For example, the Americká Street (with one lane) has a capacity of approx. 800 vehicles per hour in one direction. This means that on average a car is passing every 4.5 seconds. If there are 400 vehicles per hour passing, the street segment is displayed in green. If the traffic intensity exceeds 800 cars per hour, the street reaches the traffic level 5 and it's displayed in red. A two-lane street (e.g. Karlovarská Street) has an hourly capacity of 3 400 vehicles in one direction. The capacity of one lane here is higher than on Americká Street, since it's less impacted by negative factors such as cars parking, public transport vehicles, pedestrians or turning vehicles, and the traffic lights on this street are usually set up to prefer the traffic on the main street.
